 Seeking God?

Seek the LORD while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near

(Isaiah 55:6)

Ask, Seek—Find!

“You May Check Your Brain at the Door, Please”

Is there a part of you that wants to believe—and yet, you have questions?

The gospel should be believed because it’s true . . .Belief in a religious fairy tale, even though sincere, is not a goal to be sought, but a condition to be pitied.
The inquiring mind, the sincere question, the struggle with doubtsis familiar ground to us.

Christ’s church was born to compete and thrive in the market place of ideas.  Jesus told the early believer, "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel." (Mark 16:15).

The Church has survived and thrived because it has answers to the ultimate questions that humankind asks.  The message of the Gospel is interwoven with real events in history and geography.  In Jesus Christ, God came into the world as a real man, in a real world, at a real time.

The gospel should be believed because it’s true.  Blind faith isThe gospel should be believed because it’s true . . .Belief in a religious fairy tale, even though sincere, is not a goal to be sought, but a condition to be pitied.
not a virtue.  Belief in a religious fairy tale, even though sincere, is not a goal to be sought but a condition to be pitied  (see 1 Cor. 15:19).

It’s reasonable for seeking souls to evaluate the validity of the message and the credibility of the messengers.

If you visit the Alameda Chapel, you will not be asked to check your brain at the door.

God Blesses Those Who Diligently Seek Him

Questions are not threatening to God!  God wants us to search for Him and find Him, because “He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6).

Notice that He rewards those who diligently search for him.  He said, “you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).  The “heart”  is the inner person—the  mind to think, the emotions to feel, the will to respond.  He wants us to engage all of these as we seek Him.

God is not a heavenly butler, to be summoned only on Sunday or Wednesday nights—or when a person is in big trouble.  He rewards those who respond to His invitation to have a personal relationship with Him, to know Him, and to serve Him as Lord with all they are.

A person will never know God until he senses that he is a sinner, is lost without the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and desire to turn from sin to Christ.

As For Those Troublesome Questions . . .

There are solid answers to many questions people have.  Some questions are tough because they deal with gritty reality.  Other questions are based on myths and notions about God that are out there.

Has every question of ours been answered?  No.  Even though faith rests on the foundation of truth, it nevertheless is faith.  One day, however, our faith will become sight.

Paul said, "For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known." (1 Corinthians 13:12)

We will always have questions (see Eph. 2:7).  Yet, God has revealed enough about Himself that we know He is worthy of our faith and trust.

The Lord Wants you to Find Him More Than You Know

The great thing is, God wants us to find Him and know Him more than we could ever know.   In fact, we can only "find" Him because He sought us.

Jesus came from heaven so that we can see what the invisible God is like.  He is “Immanuel,” God with us,  and came to be the bridge between us and heaven.

He said, " ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Luke 11:9)

If you are sincerely seeking God, we want to help you find answers to your questions.  Feel free to email us with any question you may have.  Or come and visit.

It is our prayer for you that as you seek God, Jesus, who is called the "Morning Star," will one day rise in your heart and bring you light and abundant life
